October is one of my favorite times of year for family photography in New Jersey. There is something magical about the combination of golden autumn leaves, warm evening light, and families simply enjoying time together. For this Liberty State Park family session, I met a wonderful family of four — Mom, Dad, and their two young children — on a beautiful fall afternoon. The park was glowing in the soft golden light, creating the perfect setting for relaxed and timeless fall family photos in New Jersey.

I always want my family sessions to feel less like a photo shoot and more like an afternoon of playing together. With young children especially, some of my favorite photographs happen when they forget I'm even holding a camera. This session was filled with running, chasing, tickling, cuddling, and lots of silly moments. The kids had plenty of opportunities to explore and play, while I captured the genuine laughter and little connections between them and their parents. These candid, playful images are often the ones that become the most treasured family memories.

As a Liberty State Park family photographer, I love how much variety this location offers, especially in the fall. The open fields, beautiful trees, views of Manhattan, and gorgeous golden-hour light create a beautiful backdrop without taking away from the family itself. Most importantly, though, it's the connection and joy between family members that make these sessions special. My goal is always to create photographs that feel authentic — images that capture not only what your family looked like at this stage, but also how it felt to be together.
